Great for experiments!
I got these to use as anodes (positive side) for electroplating experiments. I cleaned a zinc plate with a scouring pad and some acetone, and hooked it up to the positive lead on my power supply. I then made a solution of salt water and hooked up a U.S. penny to the negative lead and placed them both in the salt water. I set the power supply to 3v DC and let it rip. Both sides started to bubble, and I waited for about 5 minutes. Wallah, I had an ugly looking sort of silver penny.I really got it to plate small hardware to prevent rust, but discovered I need a better electrolyte solution, more patience, and a lot of practice. For the price of these strips ($6.74 at time of review) they are an excellent inexpensive way to try something new that you may have thought was beyond your grasp (for me electroplating) or to get children interested in the wonders of science. I love the idea of these strips and look forward to using them to learn the art of electroplating.
